For over 12 years, Carla enjoyed a successful career in the film/commercial industry. Carla started her career as a stylist in the print/catalogue medium, then worked as a stylist for celebrities. As Carla's numerous talents were recognized, she became an art director and producer in the film/commercial industry. Carla honed her marketing skills working for these icons and major corporations. Opportunities for career advancement brought Carla and her husband, portrait and national agency storyboard artist, Miles Lewis, to live in major urban centers all over the United States. Carla and her husband have lived in Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington and Baltimore. Carla's experience living in diverse communities allowed her to appreciate the varied interests and needs of Wilmington's growing population.

Carla and her husband chose to return to North Carolina to provide their two boys with the quality of life uniquely available in the coastal communities of the Carolinas. Carla continued to utilize her marketing and design talents.
